BLESS THE FALL

blessthefallBLESS THE FALL – ‘Hollow Bodies’
Following their last, Awakening reaching a heady 31 on the Billboard Chart, Arizona quintet Bless The Fall continue their assault on the premier league of Metal-core with latest opus, Hollow Bodies. Having undergone plenty of changes in their time together it’s no surprise that there’s another change to the rosta this time – Elliott Gruenberg filling the gaps by adding some much needed weight on guitar. Produced by Joey Sturgis, Hollow Bodies also sees the band enlist the help of a few friends: there are no less than three guest vocal spots, including Jake Luhrs of August Burns Red, Jesse Barnett of Stick To Your Guns, and Vocalist Beau Bokan’s electro-rock sensation wife Lights.  Opener ‘Exodus’ sets the mood perfectly with it’s steady intro bubbling away before exploding into life with it’s mix of Hardcore and electronic accompaniment, Boken immediately standing out with his intense singing style. Best cuts include ‘Youngbloods’ with it’s riffing intensity and drummer Mat Traynor’s brutal precision mixed with a strategic, well placed gang vocal, before ‘Buried In These Walls’ tugs on the hearts strings with a clean/unclean vocal dynamic exploiting the emotion.  ‘See You On The Outside’ has a mellower vibe, the band showcasing an undoubted ability to introduce classical elements that intertwine with the sledgehammer riffs perfectly.  An impending UK tour should help reveal what really makes their trigger finger twitch, but with a contemporary mix of musical contrasts, hard and soft with tempo changes aplenty, there’s an element of diversity not seen in their contemporaries to date.  (7)
